ZsaZsa Zaturnnah ze muzikal… and ze love story

It’s been a really long while since I set foot in CCP or watch a play. The last was Miss Saigon of Lea Salonga… uhuh, I know, that’s really a looong time ago.
Watching plays are a real treat, here’s something about the hushed environment, the diffused lights, the crowd’s anticipation that feeds my own excitement for the show. Especially when its staged in CCP, there is something about the place, very much like visiting a museum or cathedral where people would talk in hushed tones in respect of what it is, what it symbolizes and what it houses.
That was why I was actually surprised to find out that that was where we would be watching ZsaZsa Zaturnnah ze Muzikal! It felt odd at first, but strangely it fits, like the magenta and gold spandex-tangga outfit of ZZ. It would probably fit someone else but not as good as it does her.
Thanks to a long time friend, she magicked tickets for our group even when it was supposedly sold-out! She is really my Superhero of Laughter and it was so her to do this for me. We all have that friend right, the one who can really make you laugh about nothing at all, even when you are down in the dumps. It was exactly what I needed post-Valentine’s.

The beautiful ZZ and super-feminine Ada
ZZ delivered, I laughed my head off from start to finish! Eula Valdes is so BEAUTIFUL! (I wish we can all mature like her… I wish! hahaha). ZZ is really for her! Didi (played by Nar Cabico) hands-down is such a great comic! and he is still so young! not even out of college, plus he can do a mean assemblé or plié, if that’s what you call the ballet-like jump (so sorry for my ignorance). Of course, one can not forget to mention Dodong’s noodles (Lauren Novero), hahaha. But my super favorite is Wilma Doesn’t, I didn’t know she was into theater, but like her onscreen persona, she did it with equal zest. Another surprise was Queen Femina (Kalila Aguilos) and the Amazonistas!

With the talented Queen Femina and hilarious Didi

It's so nice of Ms. Kalila to take the time to write a personal note.
As expected, we had a great time laughing through the romantic scenes, dialogue, and (gasp) kiss. But I also found myself crying in some scenes especially the ending! hahaha now, that, was unexpected. Maybe I’m over-romanticizing things, but I felt the bitter-sweet laughter and realities of Ada (Tuxqs Rutaquio was so engaging). How it is so true in real life and how even the “straight” people go through what they go through. What it must feel to lose the only person who seems to understand and accept you (that’s even with the hilarious dialogue, due to some improv). How we all wish for that one true love, the one who will see us for who we are and love us in spite of it. (hahaha that really turned on the waterworks for me!).
