My Official Mother’s Day Flowers

Maybe my daughter read my previous post (hehe), or the spirit of Mother’s Day past has come to haunt me or maybe we just have sampaguitas around the house (but we also have santan).
But wouldn’t you know it, my official mother’s day flower was none other than the sampaguita!
She’s just 3 and she really surprised me with this one. On mother’s day, right after she woke up, as in, from the bed she went to her “treasure” drawer (where she puts all her favorite things) and told me she has a surprise for me.
She had a single sampaguita in her hand.
But she was a bit disappointed because she picked it the day before, thinking it would be just as beautiful the following morning, awwww. But I still promised her I’ll keep it in my book so I will always have it. That made up for her disappointment.

I was surprised not at the gift or the gesture but more because she kept her secret surprise for the morning. My children, like your children, have a habit of picking things up from the yard or the house and proudly say they have a surprise for me. But this was the first time she “planned” the surprise, and what great timing! Hands-down the best gift ever… well, so far.
Really, motherhood made me sooo easy. Actually, motherhood, makes all moms easy. The gift is not really that important but rather the pureness of the sentiment behind it. And that makes it the best.
What’s your best Mother’s Day gift or memory?
