One-stop shop Eco-friendly stores in Manila
Before, going natural and organic was a bit hard, especially when trying to find the products that we need for a total lifestyle change, may be it shampoos, bath soaps, laundry soaps, coffees, etc. With those in the forefront of this movement resorting to making their own products because there was none available.
With a growing consciousness for a healthier lifestyle, now we have it easier. Aside from the weekend markets in Lung Center, Salcedo and Legaspi, there are stand alone shops we can go to get and scout for the latest products available.
In Q.C., there is the Geo Shop, it looks a bit eccentric but the storekeeper is quite nice and would patiently answer your questions. Though there was some things I think she was not that familiar with. Here you can find products from lesser known manufacturers of soaps, oils, and supplements. I even found stevia sugar substitute which was in a tiny bottle not even 2″ big but was supposed to be enough for 70+ cups of coffee. But there was no documentation of the manufacturer so I was a bit hesitant to try that one out. There were “healthier” coffee mixes containing stevia as well.
Their products are mostly concentrated on natural alternative remedies, such as apple cider, epsom salts, wheatgerm, etc at very affordable prices. I go to the store for their Daila soaps, they have 1kg-packs of unevenly cut soaps at only P150. They also have the shampoos of Green Palette and other herbal remedy alternatives, such as acapulco ointments for skin ailments. Just don’t be surprised, there might be a palm reading session when you visit.
In Market Market, there is Ecomarket located below the main entrance escalator. It’s a tiny shop but houses quite a selection of organic and natural personal and home care products. It’s quite a nice store because they sell the high-end Leyende products with the oh-so-affordable HumanHeart Nature and everything else in between. The lady storekeeper is also so nice and she even remembers what I bought weeks ago.
Some of the good brands available are, Daila, Victoria, Indigo Baby, All Natural, All Organics, Messy Bessy, and a lot more being added. They have shampoos, soaps, sunscreens and even liptints and hair waxes. You can get your grooming fix right there and best of all its all-natural. There is something for everybody and for all budgets.
Thank goodness for enterprising individuals for thinking of almost everything. Soon there would really be good alternatives for all our needs.
I know there is also the Echo Store a few meters away at Boni Hi Street, but I’ve never been there. Some say it’s more expensive given the location, is it really? Do you know of other good alternative stores in the metro?

in BF, along president’s ave in front of tropical hut, there is a hole in the wall (literally! it shares the spaces w a driving school and a copy center, it’s practically just a cabinet!) store called green earth organics (they also have a multiply site) that sells the same stuff as the above (victoria, human heart nature, etc). you can barely see their sign but what screams fr the window is “DISPOSABLE ORGANIC DIAPERS”.
