How to tie a yellow ribbon on facebook?
I can still remember seeing the oath-taking of Tita Cory on TV some 25 years ago. I can still remember feeling choked up inside as the images of what transpired a few days before that. I was only fourteen.
Yesterday, it amazed me to realize how some people’s purpose in life can be so apparent or that certain events, though regretably sad, seem to have a higher meaning. It also would seem that fate or Tita Cory or God has pre-ordained that she would die no sooner nor later than 25 years and in the same month as her husband and only a few months before what could be one of the most controversial elections we will have in our history.
Maybe what they say is true. We need another death to jolt us from our apathy, to be reminded how we have allowed (again) our country to fall (how far is still up for debate), to give us another opportunity to redeem what we can for our children.
According to one People Power figure, “Cory represents our past and our future”. It would really seem that history is in the verge of repeating itself. How Ninoy’s death has spurred a nation to drastically rid of itself from a seemingly all-powerful force. It would now be quite interesting how Cory’s death will bring about yet another kind of change.
We have a long way to go and it will not be finished even with the elections, so we need the strength, endurance and will to see it through.
If you want to show your true colors, don the yellow ribbon on your profile pics in any and all of your social network profiles. It you are using twitter follow the link here to twibbon.com to easily put a yellow ribbon on your twitter pic.
You can also do the same for your facebook or other profile pics by using Photoshop. I’m no expert and if you are a newbie like me with this techie stuff, this is how I did mine.
- In Photoshop Open your profile pic (this will be your background layer).
- Open a yellow ribbon file (your layer 1) you can download when you search for yellow ribbon images in google. I like the Yellow Ribbon above from firequinto.com
- Click SELECT, ALL, EDIT, COPY.
- Go back to background layer, click EDIT, PASTE.
- Resize the ribbon according to your preference, click EDIT, TRANSFORM, SCALE and resize with your cursor.
- Flatten, save and upload to your social network.
It’s a little thing I know, but with each effort of increasing consciousness we may be able to achieve what was started 25 years ago.
Let’s make the quaint things count,
Theresa
