Ready, get set, roll! Easy and fun candle rolling activity for kids on a great rainy afternoon
It’s been crazy weather this week, crazier than ever, with the sun shining then a heavy downpour then it starts all over again. So what do you do when kids are cooped up indoors and literally bouncing off the walls (my kids climb the pillars of our house as if they were climbing a palo-sebo pole, their ultimate challenge!).
I also know I need to keep them occupied before they drive me up the walls as well. So I took out a great Christmas gift they got (yep, I do keep them for a rainy day, its comes very handy- thanks Tita Tams). It’s the beeswax canlde rolling kit. It contains 2 sheets of beeswax and we were able to make 4 candles out of it. You can probably just make 2 if you want a thicker candle, but I decided to split it since the wick is long enough and can accommodate more and we can also stretch the candle’s use longer.
Surprisingly, it was quite easy.

Roll away! No need to worry if it breaks off, you can just press it together back again. How cool is that!
I have several candle making books and for rolled candles, the first instructions was to heat it up with a hairdryer. We found out that we didn’t have to do that! Even when it was all cloudy and quite cool, the wax was very pliable. So all we had to do was roll away!
This was a great activity, my kids quieted down quite well and we had some great candles we can use after. We use it for our story-telling or just to have fun outdoor picnics, and even brown-outs!
You can try it out, its super inexpensive, fun and fuss-free.
Its available online even, check out Ilog Maria to order, its just P165 per 100 grams, and the best part is no minimum order is required.
Now isn’t that better than just watching TV or playing video games? What other activities do you do with your kids on a great rainy afternoon?
Let’s make the quaint things count,
Theresa
