Eugene Domingo as Kimmy Dora!

Eugene Domingo’s time has finaly come to shine. She is the lead star in the upcoming movie Kimmy Dora, playing “not one but 2” (bear brand choco) polar opposite characters twice as convincing and twice as funny.

I have been seeing snippets of the intriguing movie in facebook, thanks to Tita Tams. I must admit the concept was novel, the marketing very forward (using facebook no less), the producers are new and idealists, the director a definite pro but still remains fresh, and the star is absolutely gifted and unexpected. A good formula for a good movie.

So it was a definite treat to become part, in my own small way of the formal launch of Kimmy Dora in the presscon held at Dolce Latte in Quezon Avenue last August 13.

Out of nowhere, got a call at from Tita Tams asking for help to lauch Kimmy Dora to the press by 11am the following day (super crammers club talaga). Of course, I was glad to help!

It was a challenge to come up with a design that would fit the polar opposite characters with such a limited budget so we decided on concentrating on using pink as the main color scheme to playoff the posters. The design approach is more modern playing off the minimalist/origami-like/modern outfits of Kimmy and using gerberas and roses to playoff the sweet and charming character of Dora. (As in! as I am doing this, after uploading the poster, I was so surprised to see the name Dora in the poster is made up of gerberas! I was spot on! hahaha)

Not your usual presscon, the stage set-up is more like a talk show rather than a formal conference.

which gave them no time to formally give the two ladies their sweet and edgy bouquets.

On a personal note, the last time I laughed so hard watching Pinoy comedies was during the John and Marsha days, my ulitmate favorite comedian is and will always be Dolphy. But I am so glad I saw KD’s full trailer on a bigger screen, I saw why Eugene Domingo is finally in a lead. She is definitely my close favorite now, and from what I saw in facebook, more and more are in agreement.

Sidenote: Loved Dingdong’s one liners! Watch out for when he said “No” and “EEEEwwww”! And so loooovvved seeing Ariel Ureta back and so much like a lovable distinguished gentleman.

Kimmy Dora is the maiden project of Spring Films (the collaboration of Direk Joyce Bernal, actor Piolo Pascual, cinematographer Shayne Sarte and businessman-talent manager Erickson Raymundo), directed by Bb. Joyce and was inspired by Piolo and Direk to finallygive Eugene Domingo her much deserved starring role. See it in theaters near you on September 2!
