The one reason I love going to trade fairs is the thrill of finding new exciting and creative products from budding or old-time exporters who are new to trade fairs.

17th Buy Pinoy Exporters Fair August 2009

The 17th Buy Pinoy Exporter’s Fair is no exception. Here are my top three finds:

Gandang Mais Cornhusk Flowers and Crafts.

Unlike other flower crafts made from natural materials, these beauties are artistically made to capture the essence of the true flower without actually pretending to be the real thing.  Their success is largely due to artistic vision of Ms. Milagros Evangelista.  (There’s a quaint story I’ll be sharing to you about these cornhusk flowers and lady behind them in my next post)

Roses and Heliconias, the secret to them looking so "natural" is the choice of colors and them being not so perfect

Bobbin Lace creations by W.U.T.H.L.E.

It’s always amazing to see handcrafted pieces that are so intricate.  And these bobbin lace crafts are definitely one of them.  It’s a bit pricey but when you look closely, you would why, you can hardly see the joining stitch.

Nito chair and lamps by Corzo Crafts

Modern design meets local ingenuity and artistic execution, this is the trademark skill of Pinoys, here’s a good example Nito furniture and furnishings from Camarines Norte.  You can have your own conversation piece at very reasonable prices.

Modern sculptural nito chair and lamp

Nito chair at only P3,500 and the lamp is only P1,000.

There’s still time to check it out.  See what else you can find.

Hi! I’m really interested in Milagros Evangelista’s flowers. Is their Manila outlet in BF homes still there?
