You never really know when the fates will smile on you and finally bring you the love of your life.

Some couples are really so lucky to “get” each other, especially when each has already achieved so much and have their own distinct identities.  The romance is in full swing, the love so evident and the laughter so refreshingly contagious.

Don’t get me wrong romance is romance, the roller coaster ride that makes your heart race, but friendship is the cotton candy you share in between rides.

Here is what I did for Pam and Dexter.

Color Motif: Midnight Blue and Autumn Colors

Brides Flowers: Yellow Calla Lilies and White Oriental lilies

Entourage Flowers: Combination of roses, gerberas, carnations

Bridal bouquet of white oriental lilies and yellow calla lilies. A robust and fragrant bouquet perfect for the bride who has a very distinct style.

The little detail that adds to the opulence of her bouquet and which she can keep as another remembrance of her special day.

Having a blue color motif can be tricky especially when its midning blue. So how did we incorporate the blue into the flower arrangements?  I made blue mixed media accessory using feathers, lace, beads, and sinamay.  This I used to adorn the flower bouquets for the entourage very much like how a lady will wear any stylish hairpiece.  Its a simple yet sophisticated touch that, admittedly, would not work with everybody.

For Pamy and Dexter, its simply a match!

Her entourage’s attire are quite original.  The Maid and Matron of Honors’ gowns made of silk with handpainted flowers, its such a sight to see.  While the rest of the entourage were just as interesting with different contemporary cuts and none of the traditional beading.

The flower girls' gowns were on the sophisticated side with the dark colors, but the cute florettes gave it some cuteness that the flower hugging teddy brought out all the more. Photo courtesy of David Hanson of Enoxx.ph

So how did her wedding become a green wedding?

Green Wedding Idea#3 (see the green wedding ideas #1 and #2 in My Own Green Wedding)

Believe it or not, 80% of the roses, 100% of the gerberas were all organically grown right here in the Philippines! I’m so glad that we finally have our own organic grower for roses, gerberas and even carnations. The quality is one of the best, the colors are also diverse that I can do just about any color motif!  Hopefully, their carnations supply will be as stable as the other flowers and I can use their stocks more frequently.

Green Wedding Idea#4

Aside from using organically grown flowers, we also try to work with what is already available.  It so happened the wedding day is a few days before the birthday of Mama Mary and the church made the extra effort to decorate the altar.  They had a garden effect for the altar and the side altars were full of images of Mother Mary with numerous flower offerings.

So for the altar, rather than destroying what they did, we embellished it with the flowers making it look more like a landscaped garden.  The couple got a more interesting, expansive arrangement, and we saved up on using more floral foam (for which we still have to look for viable greener alternatives).  A lovely win-win situation, don’t you think?

The bride told me she was not expecting all the trimmings on the altar, which was silver, not really in sync with her motif.  But being the person that she was, she let the day transpire the way it would.  To our pleasant surprise, the “silver” trims reflected the lighting of the camera people and turned… gold!  Providence!

So Pam and Dexter got married in a shower of gold and lush flower offerings for Mama Mary.

A fitting end to the wedding rites, the couple's own private prayer at the foot of Mama Mary.

To Pam and Dexter, I wish you effortless romance, ever-growing love, and most especially never-ending laughter.

Make the quaint things count,

Theresa

Tet! This post is overdue, but just wanted to thank you for the wonderful flower arrangements! The motiff was tricky and I wasn’t much help as I was not so specific on the flowers, but you’re so good at what you do! Imagine, just by telling you the general feel of what we wanted and did not want, you were able to come up with such fab creations! And thank you for being so game and for not making anything traditional, just the way we wanted our wedding to be. : )
