More Trade fair Pinoy EcoChic Finds
When it comes to EcoChic or even Filipino products, its sometimes hard to find accessories that you would actually want to wear especially for important occassions, unless its super expensive. But going to trade fairs, you get to see that there are actually a lot of producers who make pretty nice bags and other accessories that even the urban Pinay would want to have in her wardrobe or home.
One of these products is made right here in Paranaque, Tikog bags. Tikog is a grass like pandan growing wild before, now planted to have more stable supply, and even stronger than pandan. The feel is also smooth so its a nice material for bags.

This is the most distinct ecobag I've seen in trade fairs, so far. If you are tired of the usual rectangular sack bags, here's a colorful alternative at only PhP250.
Is it becoming obvious, I LOVE BAGS!
This T’nalak bag comes from Davao and is part of the export line of Tadeco, what I love about it is its modern EcoChic style. The traditional patterns have their appeal especially in more tropical or ethnic Pinoy Home themes, but using a more neutral pattern and wood accents make this bag more wearable for the everyday Pinay, or actually anyone appreciating more natural designs.
These notebook covers are made by CustomMade Crafts Center which is also based just in Quezon City. They not only harness traditional crafts, materials, provide livelihood to minorities and preserving cultural identities but at the same time staying true to Fair Trade practices.

Just love the sunshine yellow, aqua and purple Inaul silk notebook covers. Have to remind myself to stop buying too much. These reusable notebook covers range from PhP200-300 depending on the material
I’m still getting used to writing online, but I’m really an offline kind of girl. I just love my notebooks, so I am naturally attracted to this. Nothing beats pen and paper even in the age of digital revolution.
And my favorite! This Pina silk shawl is so beautiful! This is made from pineapple fibers and butterfly cocoon silk. Its kinda pricey but considering that the fiber is so delicate, the process (I would expect) so labor intensive, and the design is original, I would think Php4000 would be quite reasonable.
Some of you may have seen similar and maybe the same products before. But sometimes, we all need to see them with new eyes to fully appreciate the real beauty of these Pinoy EcoChic products.
Are you ready to see our rich heritage and craftsmanship with new eyes? You can still find out this November 19-22, 2009 for the Pamasko ni Kuya Part 8, Sm Megatrade Hall 3, SM Megamall.
Make the Quaint things count,
Theresa
