My Quaint Life

Have your ever noticed that things have a habit of changing when you least expect it? Sometimes you make it happen, other times it just happens, it can be with full awareness but sometimes it can also happen even without you realizing it.

BEGINNING WITH THE END IN MIND

I grew up in a family of bankers and it looked like I was destined to be one as well. Until one of those innocent but life-changing conversations and then I knew what I really wanted. I was still single but I had this persistent vision of having my kids while I worked. So I gave up being a banker and became, of all things, a florist. I know, things could not have been more different, from being totally cerebral to being almost exclusively creative. But I could not have been any happier and I’ve been doing flowers and events at my leisure for 10 years and it’s been fun.

CHANGE CAN BE A GOOD THING

But it’s when I had kids that things really started to be different, simply put motherhood changed me. After a dizzying phase of learning the how-tos, I slowly settled into a way that was more natural, healthy and holistic. That may sound totally logical or totally weird, but surprisingly it’s very helpful. And I guess it also became natural that when I celebrated the 10th year of changing my life I knew it was time again to change… somewhat. I am redrawing my future to make even the smallest thing more natural, healthy and holistic. It feels right to bring it all together, my personal and professional life, and make both more meaningful.

NO OTHER DAY THAN TODAY, IT’S TIME TO BE ECO-PINOY

Green Living is starting to gain some ground especially when large corporations are making their own initiatives to make it a reality.  But the success of that movement lies in the effort of each individual, each family to bring it into their everyday life.

But I believe it is possible. I believe being Pinoy actually makes it easier. We are so blessed because our country is so naturally bountiful, our spirit is so effortlessly creative and our ingenuity is boundless. So it’s just a matter of time when we all embrace the fact we all have our roles in this.

It is actually our gift to our children that we embrace this in their lifetime, today.

So I hope you enjoy going through these pages, joining me in the process of becoming more Eco-Pinoy everyday, finding little things to bring into your life, even sharing a little more so we can all learn and support one another because we do have it in our hands to draw a life worthy of our children.

Be Happy. Be Healthy. Be wHole.

Make the quaint things count,

By the way, why quaint? Yes, I can be a bit odd, at times finding the old more interesting than the new. I grew up with Nida Blanca movies and walking passed old houses, a habit that made me a bit of a romantic for the old-days. And I absolutely love doing my crafts and projects and anything I can get my hands on!

quaint (kwnt) adj. meaning: charmingly odd, especially in an old-fashioned way; cleverly made, artful
