This is the first time I saw this plant, its called Malvarosa and my mommy friend said it keeps mosquitoes away.
I thought I would have to wait for my kid’s parties to come up with more examples for an eco children’s party. But during the last week, we celebrated the 7th birthday of one of my children’s good friends.
His super creative mommy came up with a Herb Planting for her own Green Themed Birthday party for her son. It was an eco, easy, two-in-one activity / souvenir everybody can enjoy and really have fun getting down and dirty, especially the girls!
For the new year, I wanted to concentrate first on using biodegradeable soaps, dishwashing, laundry and bath. Why soaps of all things? I feel these three areas would be a great place to start the New Year’s Green experiment. The results are quantifiable at a shorter given period of time and would give me some momentum to keep going with the eco-experiment (yes, I admit to fall for the trap of having a short attention span, or ningas cogon or something like that, bummer right?).
So let’s get down to the practical side and see whether this switch will be worth it.

Finally after months of sedentary living, I took the plunge and enrolled in yoga for 6 months! I figured this kind of commitment will keep me committed as well. You know how it is, it’s soooo easy to just sleep in, especially on weekends!
There are a lot of yoga classes in the Metro but I was drawn only to Ananda Marga (Ananda Marga Pracharaka Samgha (AMPS) meaning “the organization for the propagation of the path of bliss”).
Most of you have already heard about yoga, but what about yoga that can contribute to a green life.
So why yoga? and why Ananda Marga?

As I mentioned before, yes I was working all the way through New Year’s… and, uncharacteristically, I was happy to do so!
That was a first since I usually end my work for the year either on a 21 or 23, last year was an exception (lucky I know!)… and I was excited, why???
It was the first REAL GREEN WEDDING for 2010 for me! (maybe for the whole Manila even!) as in Eco-friendly, environmental, earth-friendly wedding and the couple wanted it that way!
So you can just imagine my excitement to make their wishes come true for their special day!
So how did we do it?
